Thanksgiving & Baptism

Everyone likes to come to our small house for Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law cooked her first turkey and it was awesome! We had 10 adults, 3 babies, and 2 dogs in our little home, but it was so fun and loud and great. I couldn't have asked for it to go any better!

Grandma and her girls!

The girls are getting Baptised with Debbie & Bob as their godparents.

Adina's turn - all she wanted to do was get in the water and play with the pitcher. It was funny to watch Debbie & Bob try to hold the girls still so they could be blessed.

Sari's turn to wrestle and grab at the pitcher.

The blessing of the mother.

The blessing of the father.

November

They were suppose to be napping but instead when I peaked in I found Sari standing for the first time in her crib (time to lower the matresses!) pushing toys down to Adina.
Josh was making sure they couldn't go any where while he did some laundry and they loved it!

So cute - both were wiped out!

So happy! Daddy wasn't home so Mommy got to dress them in matching outfits!

October

So happy in our halloween P.J. from Grandma Bev!

Playing on the floor in our halloween outfits, Skypeing with Grandma Bev.

Our first Halloween! My little leopard and my little monkey!

They have really started moving - just the army crawl thing at this point!

The girls' first snow days with mom and dad! Two snow days in October - can't wait to see what happens in March! Adina likes daddy's boots they help her stand up!

My little bears! I love these jackets and they are perfect for my gymnastics' meets - Go Bears!

So happy playing in their jumpers!

Just adorable dresses!

August

Happy 60th Birthday, Grandma Bev! We drove back to Effingham to surprise my mom for her birthday. We threw a surprise party in her house - she had no idea that we were all coming either it was sooo much fun!
Our first Fourth of July picnic!

Our first trip to Effingham to see Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Kinkelaar. Four generations!

Our first try with cereal - I think they liked it but it was messy!

They are getting soooo big - starting to roll over, cooing a ton, noticing my voice & face, laughing, and noticing each other. It is so cute!

The girls are now four months old - I can't believe how fast it went. I go back to work on Thursday (August 13th). I have been really lucky that I have been able to stay home this long so I can't really complain but I would really like to spend a little more time with them.

First Trip to the Pool June 27, 2009

Finally settled down and enjoyed being on daddy's lap in the water!

Family picture at the pool.

Both girls are so tired after their swim.
Adina in her pretty new dress after a dip in the pool. She is so excited to go home & eat!
Everyone had a great time - we stayed for about 2 hours. Once they woke up we headed home so they could eat. They did so well that I think we might go back tomorrow.

April 3rd - Happy Birthday!

Our first family picture! (Joe says he never looked better!) After a long day waiting for the girls to arrive they finally came late in the night on Friday. My water broke around 6:45am, Joe & I both showered and then stopped at McDonald's on the way to the hospital (I knew they wouldn't give me anything to eat once I got there & I was starving). They took me straight to a room - no checking in - I was in the middle of a contraction when we walked in. I was dilated to about 2.5 when they gave me an epidural (required when your having twins) then everything slowed down. I didn't dilate past 5.5 for more than 5 or 6 hours so doctors decided to go in and get the girls. The girls were born at 11:36 and 11:38pm. 20 fingers - 20 toes!!!

Week 36 (March 30)

Here is the last picture of my enormous belly - this was taken on March 31st. I was a little uncomfortable and my legs and feet were just as huge. We had a doctor's appointment on the afternoon of the 31st. I had gained just about 50lbs and my waist is about 45 inches around. The doctor measured each girl at about 6 1/2lbs each. Both heads are down and ready to go. We are just waiting for the day they want to come out :)

Week 35 (Mar. 23)

Can you believe they still have room in there? I still worked this week but got lucky because we actually had snow days on Thursday and Friday - 1st ones I have had in this district (6 yrs). Now we are on Spring Break so I have more down time which is great. It is getting harder & harder to move around a ton. We were suppose to have a doctor's appointment on Thursday but because I didn't want to get out in that weather we canceled it. The nurse was alright with that because I feel fine and my next appointment is with the specialist on Tuesday. My only real concern is that my legs and feet swell so much but apparently that is fairly normal.

We are really excited that we made it this far. We are almost to 36 weeks and we were told that they won't let me go past 38 weeks with twins to we have a maximum of 2 weeks before Joe is a father again and I am a mother - kinda scary :) but exciting!

Week 34 Fun Pics

Just some fun pictures of Joe & I with my enormous belly!

Week 34 (March 16th)

Well we made it past the 2 week mark and the doctor did literally jump for joy at our appointment this week. Everything still looks good, but I have started dilating - barely at 1. I have gained about 40lbs. and this week my feet have doubled in size. Joe calls them Fred Flintstone feet - they are SOOOOO big! I try to keep them up but then my back starts to hurt, so I will take the swollen feet over back pain any day! I am still working but that is getting difficult just because I have to walk so far to the bathroom :) Both babies are active, but I have really felt Baby A a lot more this week. My students are all prepared just in case something happens at school - they know where my phone is and what teachers/staff members to get. They all want it to happen in their class - I think they just want to have a fun story!

Week 33 (March 9th)

We have made to week 33! I can't believe how big my belly is getting. We have now made it past a week from when the doctor said we would have them within 2 weeks. I didn't believe him and so far so good. Things still look great the specialist said they are each over 5lbs now and if I go into labor they are going to let me. No stopping at this point, so I think it is great that they believe our babies are healthy enough to be born at this point. I am still working they said that I was fine just sit as much as possible. I do have to admit that last weekend was the roughest I have had. I had major back pain for 2 days, so that's when all of our stuff for the hospital was put in the car because we thought it was time, but I think I was fighting some sort of flu or cold. Definitely feel better now!

Here is a straight on view - look how much they are pushing to my left. I am lop-sided! The darkness around my belly button is from my belly ring, it's scare tissue - gross!

Week 32 (Mar. 2)

So today we are 32 wks and 1 day. We had a doctor's appointment again (with a different doctor). She said the heartbeats are great and they are looking good. This doctor said my cervix was thin and there is a baby's head right there. She did "warn" us that once I start labor that it will happen very quickly. She also said that everything could stay like this anywhere from a day to 4 weeks.
Kind of shocking huh! It's definitely out there! For the past week, Joe has been working very hard at putting together all of the babies' things - dressers, changing tables, bassinet (pack 'n play), washing all the clothes & putting them away!!! It's really exciting looking over from our bed and seeing where the girls will be sleeping really soon.

Week 31 (Feb. 23)

So, I decided to add a picture from the front so you can all see how lopsided my belly is because of the positioning of the girls - doctor checked again & definitely 2 girls! One of them likes to push against my belly towards my left. The other one is so low that they can't get a good measurement of her head.

So this week at the doctor's appointment we were told that we should expect the girls to arrive within 2 weeks. Joe wasn't even allowed to go snowboarding the next day because the doctor didn't want him to be that far away. The good thing is that the doctor saw their lungs working on the ultrasound.
